 Whats another word for apartheid?
another word for apartheid is segregation

why did the protestors need helmets
everyone wore a helmet because the police used special long batons

why do you think being could honorary whites upset the Maoris all black
the all black did travel to South Africa but the Maori all black players were called honorary whites with was really upsetting for them because it was racist and disrespectful for them.

Why was the Hamilton game cancelled.
The Hamilton game was cancelled when hundreds of anti-tour protestor occupied the field chanting, the whole world is watching.

Do you think the protest was successful?
The anti-apartheid movement in South Africa was buoyed by events in New Zealand. ... In the short term, the pro-tour lobby came out on top: the tour went ahead, apartheid remained intact and provincial New Zealand secured the National Party a narrow victory in the November general election.

How do you think the New Zealand protests helped Nelson Mandela?
New Zealand protests helped end apartheid and made us think about how we treat in our country too.

Facts
For 56 days in July, August and September 1981, New Zealanders were divided against each other in the largest civil disturbance seen since the 1951 waterfront dispute.

More than 150,000 people took part in over 200 demonstrations in 28 centres, and 1500 were charged with offences stemming from these protests.

To some observers it might seem inconceivable that the cause of this unrest was the visit to New Zealand of the South African rugby team (the Springboks).

Although not a major sport on a global scale, rugby had established itself not only as New Zealand’s number one sport but as a vital component in this country’s national identity.

In many ways the playing of rugby took a back seat in protest 1981.

rugby fallout from the tour. For some commentators, these events were a watershed in our view of ourselves.
